Transport companies from across Britain have joined forces to help swell the coffers of a baby hospice in Coventry.
The Fortec Distribution Network, made up of 65 licensee members from across the country, has raised £1,000 for Zoe’s Place in Ash Green which forms part of a £3000 cash boost which has been divided equally between the hospice’s three sites in Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Coventry.
The cheque was presented by Neil Hodgson, Managing Director of the Fortec Distribution Network.
The money will be used towards providing care of babies and young children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, or those who have special complex needs.
Kelvin Green, Fundraising Manager of Zoe’s Place, said: “This is fantastic news and we would like to say thank you to Fortec and its licensee members for their generous donation. Zoe’s Place in unique in that it operates the UK’s only dedicated baby hospices in the country and our aim is to provide a facility that is ‘home from home’ for the babies.
“As a registered charity we receive little funding from the government. Therefore we are almost wholly reliant upon the generosity of the public and companies such as Fortec to help us raise the £2.5 million per year that is needed to keep our three site open for the benefit of the children and families in need of our care and support.”
Neil Hodgson said: “Zoe’s Place is an extra special facility and anyone who comes into contact with the work of the charity cannot fail to be moved by the endless stories of the staff and volunteers.
“We first came into contact with Zoe’s Place last year and since then each of our licensee members have been touched by the plight of these children. This money has been raised purely from donations. Zoe’s Place has captured the hearts of our licensees and they were only too delighted to dig deep into their pockets to help this fantastic cause.”
